It’s been a long winter – today the garden finally begins! It is the first really great day for getting some good work in. There have been a few here and there with sun, but it was either windy or soggy. Too much rain tends to make our yard like a marsh and not so fun. But today – it is lovely!
A friend dropped off a load of chippings last month and they have been sitting here waiting for transport into the garden, but alas…
There is some weeding to be done first. This bed was one of the last harvested this winter, so it never got turned. The others are pretty weed free. I added some sand to all the beds last fall and am now adding some mushroom compost to give them a boost.
The path however needs a good deal of work. It amazes me that this is all growing in the mulch! Thankfully the weed-cover I put underneath the cedar makes them easy to pull. Hopefully by tomorrow that pile of chippings will be in its new home and my garden will be on its way.
