Contemplating the Blank Page

To contemplate; consider carefully, ponder, think about with intention. I have done much contemplating in recent months, most especially in the past few weeks.

After 5 years of blogging I finally purchased my own domain. As I contemplated the blank slate of a new site I was faced with a dilemma; do I transfer over my old posts or start fresh? This afternoon while browsing a book store the decision was made.

I don’t often make extravagant purchases, but while at the book store I came across this incredibly lovely journal. I cringed when I looked at the price tag and began to place it back on the shelf – then I stopped – to run my fingers over its binding one last time and I knew it was mine.

I walked hesitantly to the counter.

“Hello,” the clerk said, “Did you find everything okay?” He smiled.

“And more,” I returned sheepishly, “I never spend this much on a journal, but it is so beautiful.”

As I collected my receipt I began to mentally pour out writing ideas onto the blank pages. This would be a treasure book – of projects to come, as will be this blog. Five years were given to my original blog and I have learned much about myself and about writing.

It is now time to contemplate the blank pages ahead, both here and in my beautiful idea book. Pages waiting for treasures, from hands that long only to glorify the Creator. Welcome to the beginning of a new journey.

  1. I love the look of the new website and I think you chose wisely by starting again. There is something about letting go ties and beginning anew-sometime it is easy and sometimes hard. Sorry it has taken me this long to get here. I look forward to more great posts and I think your journal is perfect. I hope your summer has been a good one. Good luck! Take care!

  2. I empathize with the decision over starting fresh at your new site. It’s hard to let go, but new beginnings are exciting too. I’ll look forward to checking in on you here!
