Final Harvest

The cold has finally arrived. Tonight is expected to get down to 26…burrrr, but amazingly this garden photo was just taken a few days ago.

We enjoyed a beautiful, warm weekend and worked on some final clean up.

Last month I placed some simple coverings over one of the raised beds and we were able to keep the greens, sweet peas and broccoli going a bit longer. I can’t believe how much this extended our growing season this year, but I think we’ve seen our final harvest.

Tonight I pulled up another bunch of green onions and still have a half row left if they survive the cold.

The mustard greens and spinach were a nice touch to dinner on this chilly evening and two nice size bowls of lettuce will make some yummy salads this week. A bit of summer in the midst of fall. Gotta love it!
