Yummy Steak Fries

This is another one of those frozen convenience foods we’ve done away with. It is so much healthier and more economical to make your own steak fries. Too bad I didn’t start doing this when my kids were younger. I don’t know why, but in all those years of throwing frozen potatoes into my shopping cart I didn’t stop to think about how simple it is to make fries.

1. Scrub the tators and cut ’em in half.

2. Cut each half into 6 wedges and toss ’em in a bowl that has a lid.

3. Dribble on some olive oil and sprinkle with your favorite seasonings. Then put the lid on and shake. This is great exercise for those arms too. 🙂

Pour ’em out onto a cookie sheet, I like stoneware for nice crispy fries, and bake at 375 about 30 minutes. Time will vary with the size of your fries. So Yummy!

Okay, so I’m thinking that a lot of you already do this and that’s great, but I learned this trick late in life, so I just wanted to share it with all those newlyweds and young moms out there. You don’t have to buy frozen, processed potatoes for those youngsters. Your body and your budget will thank you. It’s just one more way we can be better stewards of what God has given us.

    1. Yes, but it’s okay to have potatoes in small quantities if only a few times a week. And…if you want to really reduce the carbs you can make sweet potato fries.
